Happy New Year! Are you staring out 2019 with a new kitten in your household? If so, you’re in for some super adorable moments this year. Your cute little pet has a lot to do, and a lot to learn, in the coming months. In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet suggests some resolutions for kittens.
Figure Out How My Claws Work
Little Fluffy will spend quite a bit of time this year trying to sort out how all her claws and teeth work. This can be cute to watch, but don’t let her practice on you. Those tiny nails are sharp! If your kitten tries to attack you, tell her ‘No’ in a firm tone of voice, and then ignore her for a while.
Get Lots of Sleep
All of our feline pals are drowsy, but kittens sleep even more than other furballs. That’s because the hormones that stimulate growth are released during sleep cycles. Get your little furball a comfy bed, and take lots of pictures. There are few things cuter than napping kittens!
Achieve Complete Control Of The Humans
Cats may be small, but they are absolute masters at manipulating us. It’s hard to resist those furry faces and plaintive meows! We suspect that it won’t take your adorable ball of fuzz very long to have you completely wrapped around those tiny paws.
Meet The Doctor
Little Fluffy will need to come in a few times in that critical first year. We recommend that baby cats be fixed and microchipped before they reach sexual maturity. Exams, vaccinations, and parasite control are also on the agenda.
Stay Fit
Your tiny bundle of fur will take on a vigorous exercise routine. Little Fluffy will spend quite a good chunk of the year running, jumping, and playing. Give your furball plenty of fun toys to bat around, and play with her regularly.
Learn How To Cat Properly
In addition to the skills listed above, little Fluffy will also focus on mastering other classic cat behaviors. Her agenda may include attacking the bed when you change the sheets, jumping into boxes, pouncing on your toes, stealing your chair, and, of course, snuggling up with you for a good purr.
