New Year’s Resolutions For Pet Parents

January 1, 2020
Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions this year? If so, your furry pal will be right there at your side—or on your lap—as you work towards your goals. Why not include your pet in your resolutions? In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet lists some great resolutions.

Provide Entertainment

Our furry friends need enrichment and stimulation to truly be happy. Offer your four-legged friend plenty of safe, suitable toys. Change your pet’s playthings out regularly to keep things fun and fresh for them.

Keep Up With Veterinary Care

Proper veterinary care will help keep your little buddy healthy and happy, and will have a huge impact on their quality of life. Most pets should come in at least once a year, but you’ll want to ask your vet for specific advice. In between appointments, be on the lookout for potential signs of sickness. Call your vet right away if you notice anything unusual.

Don’t Skip The Parasite Control!

One of the down sides of living in Georgia is the fact that we have to deal with pests like fleas and ticks all year long. These unwanted parasites can make your beloved pet miserably itchy. They can also transmit dangerous diseases! Keep up with parasite control products.

Offer Good Food

A high-quality, life-stage diet will go a long way in keeping your pet healthy. Offer the best food you can afford. Also, try to stick with healthier treats. Ask your vet for nutritional recommendations.

Take Some Photos!

We think all of our patients are pretty cute. Remember to snap some memorable pics of your furry best friend just being themselves. You can never have too many pet photos!

Provide Little Luxuries

Comfy beds, pet ramps, toys, treats, and other small touches will help keep your animal companion happy. Score some extra purrs, tail wags, or, if you have a rabbit, binky dances, by pampering your pet a bit.

Spend Time Together

Whether your four-legged pal is a dog, cat, rabbit, or a smaller furball, spend lots of time with your little buddy this year. Time spent with pets is never wasted! All of us here at Westside Animal Hospital, your Savannah, GA vet clinic, want to wish you a wonderful new year. We look forward to providing your pet with great veterinary care in 2020 and beyond!
