There’s a pretty important kitty holiday around the corner. Respect Your Cat Day is March 28th! Fluffy may be small, but she certainly does have a way of commanding respect. In fact, she even convinced the ancient Egyptians to treat her as a diety! In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet explains some things you can do to celebrate this ‘purrfect’ holiday.
Cat Tower
Cat towers are probably your feline overlord’s favorite piece of furniture, and with good reason. They provide kitties with napping spots, nail-care stations, jungle gyms, and vantage points. If Fluffy doesn’t have a tower, this is a great time to order one. If you’re a handy type, you can also go the DIY route, and make one from scratch.
Catnip
Fluffy has a very curious relationship with this member of the mint family. In fact, her little nose has scent receptors that perfectly fit catnip scent molecules! Pick up some ‘nip for your furry buddy.
Grooming
Kitties are very clean, but that doesn’t mean they won’t benefit from being groomed. Brushing Fluffy will remove dead fur from her coat. This is important, because it will reduce the amount of hairballs she gets. It can also be a good purr activator!
Playtime
Don’t forget that your cute little pet is a fierce predator by nature! Take a few minutes a day to play with your cat, and let her indulge her inner lion. Pouncing and jumping isn’t just fun for Fluffy: it’s also great for her, both mentally and physically.
Lap Space
One of the many things we love about kitties is the fact that they fit perfectly into our laps. Fluffy isn’t shy about using us as furniture. In fact, there’s a word for not getting up because there’s a cat on your lap: feline paralysis.
Window Seat
We recommend keeping cats indoors. Fluffy may enjoy being outside, but she’s much safer staying in. However, you can still let her enjoy the stimulation and fresh air by making her a catio or enclosure. Even a window seat will be beneficial.
Cardboard Box
Fluffy loves being pampered, but she doesn’t necessarily have expensive taste. In fact, plain cardboard boxes are some of her favorite things!
