Great Ways To Pamper Your Pet in 2023

January 1, 2023
Happy New Year! As we say goodbye to 2022 and look ahead to 2023, many people are making resolutions and setting goals for themselves. Your beloved pet will be cheering you on as you strive to meet your goals. Why not include your furry pal in your resolutions? In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA veterinarian lists a few things you can do to help your four-legged pal have a great year.

Good Food

Good nutrition is the cornerstone of your fuzzy friend’s health. Check labels, and look for brands that list whole, healthy ingredients. (Tip: meat, fish, or poultry should be listed first on the label, and more often than anything else.)

Better Grooming

Brushing your four-legged friend every day may only take a few minutes, but will go a long way as far as keeping them feeling and looking good. Dental care and, for dogs, nail trims are also important.

Stimulation

Toys keep our animal companions active, offer mental stimulation, and prevent boredom. Play isn’t the only type of enrichment you should offer, however. Fido will need daily walks and occasional trips to parks or trails. As for cats, Fluffy may enjoy a comfy window seat.

Comfy Beds

Dogs spend about half of their time snoozing, while kitties can sleep as much as 20 hours a day. Make sure your furry friend has at least a few comfy napping spots to choose from.

Play Sessions

Toys are important, but interactive play is both more fun and more challenging for our furry buddies. Make it a point to spend a few minutes a day playing with your cute pet. Hold a laser pointer or remote-controlled toy for Fluffy, or indulge Fido with a fun game of Fetch.

Treats

Treats really do brighten up pets’ days. We love snacks, too! Treats are also helpful for bonding and training. Just don’t go overboard. Ask your vet for recommendations.

Veterinary Care

Speaking of vets, be sure to keep up with those appointments. Healthy pets are happy pets!

Attention

At the end of the day, the best way to make your pet feel loved is simply to pay attention to them. Spend quality time with your four-legged friend every day!  All of us here at Westside Animal Hospital, your Savannah, GA veterinary clinic, wish you a wonderful new year. Call us anytime!
