Lessons from Fluffy – Things We Can Learn From Cats

August 15, 2015
Does your kitty sometimes watch you with a smug, all-knowing expression on that adorable furry face? Cats may not exactly be the picture of serenity when they’re chasing catnip mice or knocking things off our coffee tables, but our feline friends may actually be full of valuable insights! Below, your Savannah, GA veterinarian at Westside Animal Hospital discusses some things we can learn from cats.

Get Plenty Of Rest

If there’s a golden rule of being a cat, it’s to get plenty of sleep. Fluffy can sleep as much as 20 hours a day! While we aren’t advocating that you spend quite that much time napping, getting enough shuteye is very important.

Soak Up The Sun

Cats love dozing in sunbeams. In fact, sunbathing is one of Fluffy’s favorite activities. Take time to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Show Your Love

Kitties may have a reputation for being aloof, but as anyone owned by a cat knows, these little furballs can be very affectionate. Fluffy might curl up on your lap, meow for attention, purr when you pet her, follow you around, or cuddle up to you at night. Remember to show your loved ones that you care.

Choose Quality Food

Does your furry little diva sometimes turn her nose up at her dinner? Kitties can be quite finicky. This isn’t always a bad thing, however. As the old adage says, you are what you eat. Be sure to eat nourishing, quality foods.

Enjoy The Simple Things

Fluffy may be perfectly happy to curl up on the couch for a nap, or sit at a window, watching birds. Our feline friends can also have a blast just playing with an empty box, or chasing a crumpled up ball of paper around the kitchen. Enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Have Fun

Kitties love to play! Fluffy may bat a little ball around, pounce on a catnip mouse, or chase a moth across the living room. Remember to make time for fun activities.

Explore Your World

Fluffy certainly does like to investigate. Your kitty probably knows every nook and cranny of your home. Take time to explore your surroundings. You might find you love that little café you always drive past but never tried. Do you have questions about your cat’s health or care? Call us!
