Holiday Gifts for Puppies

December 1, 2020
Has a puppy recently joined your household? Congratulations! The next few weeks will be extra special, as your canine companion celebrates his first holiday season. Don’t forget to pick up a few things for little Fido! In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet offers tips on choosing your new pet’s presents.

Toys

Toys are perfect gifts for young dogs. Little Fido has a lot of energy to burn! He’ll also be chewing a lot, to soothe the pain of teething. Offer your furry pal a variety of fun playthings, including lots of suitable chew toys.

Crate

Does your canine pal have a crate yet? If not, this is a great chance to get him one. If used properly, crates are great training aids. They can also help dogs feel safe and secure. Plus, little Fido will eventually need to be crated, either for travel or when visiting a groomer or doctor. Getting him used to the idea now can be quite beneficial.

Doggy Bag

We’re not suggesting giving your furry friend a box of leftovers, though he probably wouldn’t be upset about that. Get a travel bag ready for Fido. Some of the things you’ll want to include are waste baggies, a water bottle with a dispenser, a tie-out line, toys, treats, towels, and a pet-first aid kit. If you want to take your four-legged buddy to a park on a nice day, you’ll only have to grab one thing.

Pupscription Box

Want to keep that cute tail going all year? Sign your pooch up for his own doggy subscription box. This is a great way to keep your pup’s toybox full.

Doggy Daycare

Does your canine buddy stay home alone while you go to work to earn money for toys and treats? Consider enrolling the little guy in doggy daycare! Little Fido can spend his time running and playing with his friends!

Treats

Don’t forget to put a few treats in little Fido’s stocking! Your pooch will also need lots of chew sticks.

Grooming Supplies

This is the time to help your puppy get used to things like being brushed and bathed, and having his teeth and paws handled. Get him a good doggy grooming supply kit. Please contact us here at Westside Animal Hospital for your puppy’s veterinary care needs. As your Savannah, GA pet hospital, we’re here to help!
