July 1st is ID Your Pet Day! This is a very simple thing, but one that can make a huge difference. Every year, millions of pets are lost or stolen. While we hope this never happens to your furry friend, making sure they have proper ID is the best safety net you have if it does. Microchips
When it comes to pet identification, the microchip is definitely king. The process of getting your pet microchipped is very quick and simple. Your vet will place the microchip beneath your pet’s shoulder blades, using a hypodermic needle. That microchip contains a unique ID number, which is associated with your records in the chipmaker’s database. If your pet is ever brought to a clinic or shelter, they’ll be scanned with a device that can read that number. Of course, you’ll need to keep your records updated in the chipmaker’s database. Microchips are wonderful, but they don’t negate the need for ID tags. Not only are ID tags required by law in many places, they’re also the simplest and easiest way for someone to connect you and Fido. Make sure your dog has current ID tags.Breakaway Collars

Pets should always travel in a crate or carrier. It’s just much safer for them! The carrier may also be necessary in a disaster. We recommend putting your name and contact information on the carrier.
