Ways To Change A Pet’s Life

January 15, 2022
January 24th is Change A Pet’s Life Day! In many cases, a pet’s adoption day, or Gotcha Day, will be the day their lives change the most. That’s definitely worth celebrating! However, it isn’t always Fido and Fluffy’s only big day. In fact, there are many ways a pet’s life can change in a day. In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet offers a few examples.

Education

One thing we can say for sure about our animal companions? There’s always more to learn about them! Do a little research about Fido and Fluffy, including some breed-specific reading. The insight you gain could make a huge difference in how you perceive and interact with your four-legged friend.

Enlist Help

If your pet is having a behavioral issue, consider reaching out to a professional who can help you get to the root of the matter. Sometimes a few sessions can have a pretty drastic effect!

Fostering

Fostering is another thing that can make a huge difference. This isn’t for everyone, of course: some people find they get too attached to their furry wards. (This results in a lot of foster fails, which isn’t exactly a bad thing.) Even though it may be bittersweet saying goodbye, you may also find it rewarding to see a pet you’ve cared for grow and thrive, and finally go off to their forever home.

Alerting Authorities

We think all animals deserve to be treated kindly and with dignity. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. If you know of an animal that is being neglected or abused, or is maybe just homeless and struggling, reach out to local authorities and rescue organizations.

Veterinary Care

Proper health care is just as important for pets as it is for people. However, Fido and Fluffy can’t tell you if they feel sick, so it’s important to watch for signs that something isn’t right. A proper diagnosis will open up possibilities for treatment options, which can make a huge difference.

Donations

There’s definitely no shortage of pets and rescue organizations that need help. Consider donating money or supplies to one. You can also make a donation to a specific pet that requires medical care. Every little bit helps! Here at Westside Animal Hospital, your Savannah, GA pet hospital, we’re dedicated to offering pets top-notch care. Please feel free to contact us anytime!
