Holiday Gifts For Dogs

December 15, 2019
Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Don’t forget to pick up something for Fido! In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a local Savannah, GA vet lists some great gifts for dogs.

Beds

Did you know that Fido spends about half of his time sleeping? A new bed is a great gift! This is even a good option for pups that already have beds. (It’s nice to have options.) We recommend orthopedic beds for large breeds and senior pooches. Smaller breeds may like beds with raised sides, while dogs that like to sprawl out may prefer a simple regular bed.

Toys

Playing isn’t just fun for Fido: it’s important to his health and his emotional well-being. You can get your canine companion a classic dog toy, like a ball or a rope pull. Or, try something more modern. Mechanical ball launchers are lots of fun for Fido. You can also get him an automated laser pointer.

Pet Fountain

Many dogs prefer to drink running water. Consider getting Fido a doggy fountain. If you have a yard, consider installing one that sprays water when your pet steps on it.

Kiddie Pool

While it may be a bit too chilly for swimming right now, it’s probably safe to say that a kiddie pool will get a lot of use throughout the year.

New Gear

Has it been a while since Fido got a new leash? Is your canine pal’s harness looking a bit frayed? Get your pup some new stuff.

Stocking Stuffers

Don’t forget about Fido’s stocking! Treats are of course the number one option here. You can also add grooming supplies, paw balm, and/or doggy dental products.

Doghouse!

Do you have a yard for your pooch to chase squirrels in? A new doghouse would be a great gift for your furry best friend.

Dinnerware

Did you know that it’s easier for Fido to eat from raised dishes than from bowls on the floor? Give your pet’s dinnerware a ‘pupgrade!’

Training

Could your furry pal stand to work on his petiquette a bit? Enroll Fido in obedience classes. Proper training can help ease tension between you and your pet, which will make you both happier. All of us here at Westside Animal Hospital, your Savannah, GA vet clinic, want to wish you and your canine buddy a wonderful holiday season. Please feel free to contact us any time.
