New Year’s Resolutions for Confused Dogs

January 1, 2021
Does your canine buddy do that super cute head tilt when he’s confused? This is always charming. Dogs are very smart, but their intelligence isn’t exactly the same as ours. Actually, Fido finds a lot of things quite perplexing. In this article from Westside Animal Hospital, a Savannah, GA vet lists a few things that could be on your pup’s list of things to sort out this year.

Get Out Of Baths

Dogs really do enjoy feeling soft and clean. Who doesn’t like that salon-fresh feeling? However, Fido is definitely not a fan of the process that gets him there. He may not really know why he has to put up with the indignity of being covered in suds. (Sorry, buddy: you probably won’t have much luck with this one.)

Figure Out The Cat

While dogs and cats don’t always get along, many of our four-legged patients do learn how to at least cohabitate with their furry roommates. However, that doesn’t mean that our canine friends understand their feline ‘siblings.’ Cats wag their tails when they’re mad, willingly clean themselves, and don’t care for bacon or belly rubs. That all sounds pretty confusing to poor Fido!

Chase The Vacuum Cleaner Off

To you, the vacuum cleaner is a necessary tool, and a great help in getting rid of pet fur and doggy smells. To Fido, it’s an evil robot that is trying to get rid of pet fur and doggy smells!

Catch That Red Dot

It’s always adorable seeing pups run after that little red dot from a laser pointer. Fido probably won’t make this goal, but he’ll at least have fun trying.

Better Begging Techniques

We really can’t condone begging. It is bad manners, after all. However, it can be confusing to Fido when people give in one day, and reprimand him the next. Be consistent!

Learn How To Be A Good Boy

Our canine companions really do strive to please their humans. However, Fido may need a bit of help here. If your pup needs to work on his petiquette, take time to finish his training. Consistency is very important. Your pooch won’t necessarily know that ‘Sit’ means the same thing as ‘Fido, sit down right now!’ As your Savannah, GA veterinary clinic, we’re dedicated to offering great care. We look forward to serving you and your pet in 2021 and beyond!
